Completed in 1968, the Tower stands as an 80-ton reminder of HemisFair,
Texas' 1968 World's Fair, for which it was the theme structure. The Tower
is a triumphant feat of architectural and engineering skills and is still
one of the tallest freestanding structures in the Western Hemisphere.
Rising 750 feet to the top of the antenna, the Tower is 87 feet higher
than the Seattle Space Needle, 67 feet higher than the Washington Monument
and 52 feet higher than the San Jacinto Monument. The observation deck is
encircled by an outdoor walkway which enhances the sensation of height
above the Alamo City.
We've just added a spectacular
360° view
from the top-it's a image unlike any you've seen before.
HemisFair Park is located in downtown San Antonio adjacent to the
Convention Center. Tower parking is available off Bowie St., east of the
park.
